The Island of the Blue Dolphins is a children's book
of their offspring, guilty only of the fact that they werenot raised with head, heart and soul by their parents. Alas, I started to besharp like Matilda, but it wasn't necessarily that or her extraordinaryintelligence or "supernatural powers" that stuck with me, but the wayshe managed to win over another wounded soul and defeated, helping him toflourish. Besides, among Matilda's first readings was the following book, sohow could I not like such a soulmate? Tess d'Urberville Ah, the movies again,and the miniseries. But no matter how many adaptations there have been (andprobably will be), the Tess I imagined is different from anything you've seen.Because whatever it sounds like, Tess is me. Yes, read as a teenager, Tessrepresented and remained the
turning point in which I understood that literature is notjust escapism. I don't Italy WhatsApp Number Dataknow how to explain the fact that I found myself so muchin this novel and its characters. Tess spoke to me and still speaks to me aboutparts of our humanity that most of the time we don't see, we don't discuss, wedeny, parts that guide us and lead us to seemingly inevitable destinies. Beyondthe action and story written by Thomas Hardy, Tess is a broken cry, and a crynonetheless. It would at least be worth a listen. Or read. Karana Won‑a‑pa‑leiI don't know how many of us would have made it if we were Karana from Island ofthe Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. The story is inspired by true events. true heroine (because we're still living in the superheroera), but a single defining moment that I won't divulge to save you thepleasure of discovering it yourself . I like to think that I might react thatway in a similar situation. But I hope every day not to be put in the positionof finding out otherwise. Because all kinds of clichés say that "heroesare born", but that "heroes are not born heroes, but becomeheroes". Karana is a special hero and even if, apparently,, the implications of the story are muchwider. How would it be to wake up one day and find out that you are the onlyRomanian on the planet, no one knows you, no one speaks your language, no oneknows anything about who your people were? I
